Continuing Education and Training (CE/T) Advisory Committee

The Children’s Forum is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).  As a result of this accreditation, the Forum is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.

In order to maintain our IACET accreditation, the Forum is required to comply with the IACET Standard, which is recognized internationally as a standard of excellence in instructional practices.  The Standard has ten (10) categories that explain in detail how adult training should be delivered according to the principles of best practice.

To comply with Category 4: Learning Event Planning, it is required that each Accredited Provider must conduct a periodic Needs Analysis to ensure that all training content is current and relevant to the individuals who will attend the trainings.  As stated in the IACET Standard:

The rationale and planning for each learning event must be the result of a Needs Analysis. Needs may be identified in a variety of ways, including focus groups, questionnaires, surveys, learners’ comments and suggestions, records, reports, tests, self-assessments, print media, observations, work samples, and customer requests. (p. 38)

One of the ways we comply with this requirement is to conduct two (2) ongoing Training Needs Assessment surveys.  Each year in January, we review the surveys, make needed revisions, and distribute the surveys as widely as possible to early childhood educators in Florida in the following ways:

  • CE/T Advisory Committee
This CE/T Advisory Committee consists of the members of the Forum at the Director/Owner/Operator level.   These program administrators assist us by participating in our annual surveys and provide information about their own training needs as well as the needs of their staff members.  In addition, they can fulfill the professional contribution requirement (PCR) to renew their Florida Director Credential by serving on the committee.
  • Email Distribution
We send out the surveys using our email distribution lists to try to reach as many early childhood educators as possible.
  • Newsletters and Publications
We include information about the surveys and links to access them in various publications.

And, you can help as well!  Use the links below to take the survey that matches your position and tell us about YOUR training needs.
