Attend the One Goal Conference: Building the Future Together

The One Goal: Building The Future Together "Putting Families And Children First" Conference, July 22-24, brings together over 1000 early education and care providers and leaders from around the state. It is designed to share information on best practices in the field and to build common frameworks of knowledge and understanding to assist in unified planning for young children and their families. Participants have formal and informal opportunities for learning and sharing and can get continuing education units (CEU). Benefits to attendees and their programs include increased knowledge of local, regional and state issues, opportunities to learn about or share information on exemplary early education and care programs for children and their families, and cost-effective networking with key leaders in the field.

The conference includes a selection of 90 workshops in a variety of topics ranging from Surviving in Hard Times to New Birth to 5 Performance Standards. In addition, special activities are planned for all conference attendees.

Public Policy Track
This year, a special public policy track is planned for participants beginning on Wednesday afternoon, July 22nd with special guests Helen Blank from the National Women's Law Center in Washington, DC sharing the opportunities and challenges on the federal landscape. Linda Smith, Executive Director for the National Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies in Arlington, VA kicks off Thursday's line-up with the following speakers throughout the day: MaryBeth Salomone from the Early Care and Education Consortium in Washington, DC; Bob Moffett from Childcare Network corporate headquarters; Dr. Sara Moleski-Rice, Vice President of Government Relations for Learning Care Group, a national child care provider in 37 states; and Diana Ragbeer, Public Policy Director of The Children's Trust in Miami-Dade County. The public policy track will also feature an update on legislative issues affecting children in Florida facilitated by Ted Granger, President of the United Way of Florida and a research luncheon featuring Dr. Steve Freedman, Chair of the Policy Group for Florida's Children and Families.
