T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Scholarship Program Celebrates 10 Years
This year, the Forum's Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (T.E.A.C.H.) Early Childhood® Scholarship Program is celebrating 10 years of service. T.E.A.C.H. received its initial statewide funding on July 1, 1998. To date, 22,084 scholarships have been awarded to 14,633 participants. T.E.A.C.H. recipients have a low turnover rate compared to the field in general. Over 500 applicants are currently on a wait list, but T.E.A.C.H is currently enrolling new students and applications are processed on an ongoing basis.
Significant T.E.A.C.H. Accomplishments:
- 5,683 recipients have earned their CDA Equivalent or Renewal
- 1,400 recipients have competed their Director Credential coursework
- 5,832 recipients have completed at least one contract earning a total of 72,478 credit hours toward their Associate's degree
- 435 recipients have graduated with their Associate degree
- 110 recipients have completed at least one contract towards their Bachelor's degree
- Six recipients have graduated with their Bachelor's degree
- Over 5,300 centers and family child care homes participated by sponsoring at least one T.E.A.C.H. scholar. Over 329,436 children were enrolled in those centers and homes
- 5,217 credit hours were taken during the Spring 2008 term
- The average GPA during the Spring 2008 term was 3.35
